Alberta is in a very lucky position, as our COVID spread trajectory lags behind Europe’s one by couple of weeks. Hence we can safely learn from other's errors.

Alberta COVID trajectory is strikingly similar to the Irish one.

After reducing the number of cases, Ireland eased the restrictions, which resulted in a subsequent surge and another lockdown.

If Alberta now eases the restrictions (i.e. reopens in-person schools) we will end up with a similar surge of COVID-19 cases.

This experiment was done.

We know what will happen.

Alberta’s choice:

A) Ease restrictions (open in-person schools) and end up in an uncontrollable disaster, or

B) Tighten the restrictions, avoid the catastrophe, and by mid-March have no COVID community transmission → reopen / normalcy back
