Very over-determined that I'm not in Congress or in D leadership, but this is what I'd do if I was.
First, Pelosi should get the impeachment done on Monday. Finish it, deliver it to the Senate.
On Tuesday, there's a pro-forma in the Senate. This is where life gets messy. Pro-formas are short, and business is out-of-order. So while they can *receive* the papers, they can't act on them to, say, invite CJ to preside, schedule time, or invite House managers to come over.
You can't get of the pro-forma without unanimous consent, which requires 100 senators. McConnell is right on this.

But ... you can sure try.
* 99 senators (one seat is vacant).
So here's what you do. Turn up at the pro-forma. File a motion to invite the House managers immediately when they gavel in. The chair will rule you out of order, because that motion is business.
Appeal the chair's decision. The chair is right, but nobody cares, because the Senate rules are what the Senate says they are. You appealed the chair, so they do a roll call.
You need a quorum, so have 51 senators with you to answer that roll call. That's 48 Ds and three Rs. And now you have a quorum, overrule the chair with a majority of those present.
And now you've overruled the chair, the motion is in-order, you vote the motion, and invite CJ and the House managers. And then by Senate rules, that takes a day and you gavel in the impeachment trial on Thursday at 1pm.
And here's the thing: you don't need to be sneaky. Just announce that's your plan. Even if it fails, it's clear that you were serious, and you forced other people to come up with a plan to stop you and put their name on it.
