This is what happens when you create a system where the minority has way too much power because of racism and despite your bestest efforts, even that system cannot keep the minority in power.

By now, the minority feels like it inherently DESERVES that advantage.

But wait! You have been telling that minority that it deserves that power as well! They are the "real Americans". It's THEIR ancestors who built the country. In fact, they're not a minority AT ALL! They are the real majority. IN FACT! Even in NUMBERS, they are the real majority.

And then you tell the same minority that centuries of indoctrination and decades of telling them they are being victimized despite the fact that they are the majority... Oh and did I mention they are RIGHTEOUS?

And their opponents are literally not American, but Kenyan etc.

And your system is open af. They can live in a parallel universe of traditional and social media where they are told lies upon lies upon lies that go unchecked for decades. Their representatives are interested not in their welfare, but in keeping them angry and racist.

These people were literally planning on murdering politicians on January 6 from both sides. Not just the "Satanist cabal of pedophiles", but their OWN FUCKING PARTY! The very people who nurtured them were the first that they came for.

Mike Pence used his entire political capital to legitimize Trump. Mitch McConnell ruined the McConnell name in the history books forever. And when the time for violence came, it was Pence that they wanted to hang first. Because the lies simply got out of hand.

You can tell small lies for a few years. A decade or two. But the Republican party has been telling lies for over half a century that explain away WHY poverty rages in White communities, why the opioid epidemic is ravaging White counties, or the loss of good paying jobs.

Sooner or later, the lies have to become grander and more fantastical in nature. You go from, "You are not working hard enough!" to, "Black welfare queens are sucking the country dry!" to, "It's the fucking Muslims!" to, "Satanic cabal of pedophiles!"

It's like a Ponzi scheme that has to unravel because you're outta cash. At some point, your lies, no matter how fantastical they may be, simply become too much. You need something even more potent to keep people occupied and shifting the blame from you.

That's what the GOP did. But no lie is enough. You had the senate, the house and the presidency. And yet, STILL you couldn't do anything because well, "Our hands are tied by traitors etc."

But there were no more traitors left. EVERYONE had already been blamed.

Black people? Immigrants? LGBTQIA+? Religious minorities? Holly-fucking-wood?

Everyone.

Everyone had been blamed except... except the GOP itself. So some in the GOP actually started to place the blame on other GOPers.

"We can't do it because some of us aren't GOP enough."

That is the end of every con. The con goes on until the conned have nothing and no one else to turn to but the person running it.

I still think the GOP doesn't understand how fucking deep of a shit everyone is in - especially them.

But you championed gerrymandering to create extremely red districts where you cannot even accept legitimate elections anymore because the voters will reject you.

That's what happened in the House.

"I am representing my constituents" really means, "They will fucking kill me!"

Those GOP representatives were right. Their constituents did show up to kill them!

But they had opportunity after opportunity to create electorates that could be swayed or reasoned with. To stop gerrymandering. To create fair voting districts. BUT NAH! Lying worked better!

The GOP simply pocketed the cash, took their lucrative jobs after retirement, enriched themselves by cutting their own taxes.

All the while lying to their electorate, which BY THE WAY they continued to goad into getting more and more armed. More and more unhinged.
