I'm near shaking with rage here.

It's not enough that Black people have had to prove our humanity and our right to exist since we arrived on these shores. It's not enough that we show more love for a country that refuses to love us back. Black people have fought and died in
every single war from the Revolution to theaters in the Middle East. That White House the insurrectionist-in-chief is polluting was designed by Black hands and built by Black bodies. That is OUR HOUSE. Not his.

We have succeeded despite generational trauma which many of us still
are coming to grips with.

So having white people insist that we "teach" them how not to be racist and hold their goddamn hands like some fucking kumbaya circle because if we don't it's OUR fault racists stay racist is abusive as fuck.

It's. As. Abusive. As. Fuck.
With all the resources available on everything from why you shouldn't touch a Black woman's hair to Black engineers to Black writers - both fiction and non fiction - there is just no excuse or reason that we as exhausted Black people need to do more.
Then to THREATEN us with "well if you don't there's just going to be more racism and it's your fault" is like, wow.

The sick thing is, when we DO try to educate white people, they don't want to LISTEN. Case in point - braids. They'll bring up the Vikings and the Greeks as if
Ragnar or Sophocles were rocking Janet Jackson's goddess braids. When we explain what they call "edgy" gets derided as "ghetto" on us, they plug their ears and yammer on about "well y'all dye your hair blonde" (as if they've never heard of henna or ocher used by the ancient
Egyptians).

In short, we try to teach. They don't like the lesson so they choose to remain ignorant.

Or, they don't like our "tone".

And THAT'S the mindset we're supposed to exhaust ourselves trying to help? Especially when we're trying to learn how to love ourselves in a
world that doesn't want us to.
