First let me say that Abel is one of my favorite artists of all time. His blend of dream pop and rnb in his early career to his 80s pop and rnb blends of recent memory I have loved his music for so long. Narrowing it down to my 10 favorite songs was hard asf.
10. The Birds Pt. 1/2
A song split into two parts, this song is the climax of Thursday both quality and story wise. The percussion on these songs hits like a bullet and his beautifully depressing vocals sing of the girl who falls in love with him but he’s just gonna leave her.

On the first part he warns her not to fall in love, on the second she disregards this and allows it to happen. She ends up shooting something in relation to Abel, this is left up to us to decide.
9. Call Out My Name
Pretty much the audio embodiment of depression. May just be his best vocal performance to date, even the A Capella version could be placed in this spot that’s how amazing they are. Abel struggles to let go of his love on this song. He wishes she still wants

8. Tell Your Friends
Abel has nothing to hide on this song. He invites people to tell others of his life, he’s perfectly fine with the way he lives. Produced by none other than Kanye West this song has one of the best beats in his entire discography. The guitars perfectly

7. The Morning
This song is so fucking catchy. Bringing one of his strongest choruses and an addicting beat I could listen to this song for hours. Abel, like much of House of Balloons, is horny asf on this song and it creates the perfect song.

6. Sidewalks
The peak of rapping Abel right here. He raps about his path to fame from just the mere sidewalks. With an amazing feature from none other than Kendrick Lamar, which I believe to be one of his best, the post-chorus from Daniel Wilson, and the driving beat this song

5. Earned It
Recorded for the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, this song is nothing short of cinematic. Abel woos his girl over an amazing orchestral beat that compliments his beautiful voice perfectly. He is truly horny on a cinematic scale

activities that take place at these parties. The beat on Glass Table Girls is grimy and menacing and his vocals are the dirtiest and most unrefined they have ever been but in the best way possible.
3. In Your Eyes
This was my song of the year for 2020 for the longest time. The driving retro synths that background the vulnerability that Abel presents. The saxophone on the latter half of this song is pristine and vibrant that contrasts the darker manipulative lyrics.

Abel telling a girl about his clique and what it’s like. The Host on the other hand serves as an interlude before the Initiation on the next song. Everything about this song is just the perfect Weeknd song.
1. After Hours
This song is like the artistic culmination of his entire career. In the first part you can draw parallels to any number of songs off of trilogy and his dream pop roots. But as the song progresses and the chorus hits you are blown into this soundscape of whirling,
This song is like the artistic culmination of his entire career. In the first part you can draw parallels to any number of songs off of trilogy and his dream pop roots. But as the song progresses and the chorus hits you are blown into this soundscape of whirling,
retro synths that hit like a truck and remind us of his current pop lane. No one is really making pop music like Abel does right now if you look at his deeper album cuts not just his singles. This song is just the amazing culmination of everything to love about his music.
And that’s it, thanks for reading I loved making that thread and I hope I did these songs justice. RTs appreciated
