No matter how far into the fringe you are there’s always a way back. You don’t have to be part of this madness. There’s something so liberating about just letting go and admitting you’re wrong, even if it’s just to yourself.
You don’t have to sign on for everything the Democrats want, or any of it really, but just stop actively working to help erode democracy in this country. That institution is more important than the temporary fortunes of almost any singular political idea.
This moment will pass and how do you want to look back on yourself? As someone who actively worked to destroy the world’s greatest democracy? As someone who was so consumed with nihilism you sniped from the sidelines? Or as someone who did what they could to help? You can help.
If you’re a Republican I don’t think anything should be more important to you than impeaching Trump and expelling frauds like Hawley and Cruz. They damage your cause as much as they do Democracy. You know it can’t continue like this.
Elected officials are relentlessly waging a war on truth to whip their base into a frenzy. They’ve now literally spilled blood over it in an attempt to overthrow the government. That happened. It’s a real thing. This isn’t time for “both sides suck” cynicism.
Should there be unity? Absolutely. We should all be united with the common purpose of removing every Republican from office who tried their best to overturn a free and fair election. Once there are consequences then we can move forward together.
