There's a lot of good answers to this question but basically I can't think of a better way to sum it up than that the Air Force is the only branch of the five that the likes of Milo Y could survive in

It's a cautionary tale about telling young boys and girls that they're smart https://twitter.com/HeerJeet/status/1348136129589956608
People replying to Jeet are bringing up how the Air Force Academy has been infiltrated by hardcore evangelicals and while that's true, it's not germane to the subject of what motivates enlisted airmen like Babbitt et al

And even most Air Force COs aren't from the Academy iirc
Ultimately the thing about airmen is their culture of exceptionalism

That's the culture USAF fosters; the Army Air Force was literally formed to keep people who were "too clever for their own good" from corrupting the Army rank-and-file

George Carlin was an OG dirtbag airman
and that mentality persists to this day, the idea that the Air Force is a dumping ground for all the people who are too big a fuckup NOT to go into the military, yet calamitously individualistic to the point of being an ever-pressing threat to unit cohesion
With airmen to a greater extent than anyone else, there is a constant risk of them thinking they're smarter than the people giving them their orders.

Which, yeah, when combined with reactionary conservatism, leads to a willingness to participate in a fascist coup.
Soldiers respect the command structure a lot more than airmen. They also more harshly penalize those who defy it.

Culturally, soldiers and Marines may be MORE fashy than airmen (and I tend to think they are).

Airmen, however, are much more likely to be proactive about it.
Ashli Babbitt was an airman.

But so was Reality Winner!

There's nothing good or bad about the airman mentality, (but for the fact that it leads people to become airmen).
