Let me break down to Great Migration to y'all by Big Cities...
The Great Migration was the movement of 6 million+ Black Americans from the South to the Northeast, Midwest, & West between 1915-1970. The first wave was 1915-1940 & the second wave was 1940-1970.

Most black people left because of Jim Crow racism & to find employment in Plants. People would migrate to places depending on where the railroads took you.
Anyway, places in the West Coast like Los Angeles & Oakland, California along with Phoenix, Arizona received most of their black people from Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma & Texas. Same with Seattle, Washington & Portland, Oregon.
Places in the Midwest like Kansas City & St. Louis Missouri along with Chicago, Illinois & Gary, Indiana received most of their black people from Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana & Memphis TN.
Places up North like Detroit, Michigan, Cleveland & Cincinnati Ohio along with Pittsburgh received most of their black people from Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, & Georgia.
Places in the Northeast & East Coast like New York, Jersey, D.C, & Boston naturally received most of their negroes from Virginia, the Carolinas, & Georgia. Matter of fact alot of Jay Z's people are from North Carolina along with the infamous drug trafficker Frank Lucas.
Infamous gangster & drug trafficker "Bumpy" Johnson is originally from South Carolina. Snoop Dogg's family is from the same town in Mississippi as Britney Spears. 2Pac's family is also from North Carolina.
