let's bring back the term "gendertrash", and all of these buttons, in 2021 https://twitter.com/theBGrass/status/1021011765419741185
when I was first researching trans identities online (not for any particular reason! *I* certainly wasn't trans, ha ha!) in 2008-2010, "genderqueer" was still the most popular & prevalent term for someone who ID'd as neither male or female, or between male and female. I miss it!
Nonbinary, which I think is inescapably What We're Going With For This, As a Society, is fine. I actually don't even mind "enby"! I just like the plainspoken yet mildly confrontational vibe of genderqueer so much
other terms I remember from those initial forays into the late 00s-very early 10s trans internet that I don't see anymore: girlfag, guydyke, FtX and MtX, neutrois, birl
iirc girlfag and guydyke referred to non-transitioning people who identified heavily with gay men (as a "cis" woman) or lesbians (as a "cis" man), but i kind of wanna double-meaning them to talk about trans people who (still) ID as fags (if trans fem) or dykes (if trans masc)
