#CervicalCancer starts in the cervix, which is the opening of the uterus (womb) and spreads to other tissues and body organs.

99% of all cases are linked to infections due to human papilloma viruses (HPV) which is very common and can be contracted through sexual contact.

Thankfully, cervical cancer can be prevented by several ways like:

👉🏽HPV Vaccination:This helps to protect against cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancers, among others.

👉🏽Pap Smear:It is a routine screening test that has helped reduce cervical cancer cancer by about 60% globally.
Cervical cancer is often detected early and when found in the precancerous stage, it is 100% curable with proper treatment and follow-up.

When detected early, it has a high survival rates, which is great!

How to know if you are at risk?

Some factors that may increase your chance of getting a disease include:
👉🏽Age of 30+ in women
👉🏽Having a Human Papilloma Virus infection
👉🏽Smoking (doubles your risk)
👉🏽 Not getting screened (reduces chances of detection)

It is also important to note that cervical cancer typically does not show symptoms ar an early stage, so SCREENING AND VACCINATION are vital.
