Here is a thread for trans people about how to start fighting back if you haven’t already (many of you have already, awesome, keep going!)

First thing, join any trans group near you. Doesn‘t matter what it is. Get in rooms (when safe) and get on zoom calls with other trans folks
If there isn‘t a group in your area, start one using the resources and skills you have. If there is nothing trans related in your area for miles, make it a social group. Advertise it online and offline. Many trans people aren’t on here. Find them.
If you already run a group, find other groups near you and introduce yourself to the people that run those. Befriend them. Talk to them. Exchange information. Help them out. Create a communications network between the different groups to co-ordinate your limited resources.
After that integrate yourself into other equality movements. Help them. They will need the help too, and whilst you are there you can tell them about our fight. You will probably both realise that you are fighting the same thing. This will create more allies.
Seek out trans people who are alone. There are so many who do not know another trans person. Find these people and get them into your groups. This is purely an anti-suicide measure. So many trans people die and nobody knows about them.
Talk to cisgender people about this in your life. Everyone from your boss to your weird uncle who collects hammers, send them this or something better: https://twitter.com/WhatTheTrans/status/1347457964320452608
Go meet your MP face to face (or Zoom these days). Even if they are a massive transphobe. ESPECIALLY if they are a massive transphobe.

Lisa Nancy became an ally because she met some of us. This is how Press For Change were so successful in the 90’s.
It is harder to hate us and harder to vote in policy that would hurt us if the MP can picture a living breathing trans person who will be effected by it. This won’t always work. But it will win us more allies in parliament than almost anything else.
But the most IMPORTANT THING is shedding this idea that you have no power. You do. You have been alive for years collecting skills, knowledge, wisdom and you have perspective. Some of you will have money. Some of you will be able to drive. Some of you will know powerful people.
Every person reading this has something they can give. If you don‘t know what that is for you, talk to a friend and they will remind you. They can see parts of you that you cannot. They can remind you of that time you raised 300 quid for children in need that year.
Also, don’t leave anyone in our community behind in your work. People of colour, disabled people, travelling communities, trans people come in all shapes and sizes. Educate yourself on the unique challenges they face and keep those in mind.
Drop the idea of being perfect. If there is a choice between doing something imperfectly or doing nothing, go with imperfect. Mistakes will be made. You may not be able to do everything perfectly.
Finally...do not let an imagined media or GC response turn you away. They will shit on us no matter what we do. They don‘t need material from us to do this, they have proved that.

Do not let fear stop you. That is what they want.
