Buddhists too have a parallel caste system, and says the first two are superior and deserve more respect:
"Hina (Lower)" jati-s [Chandala, Vena, Nesada, Rathakara, and Pukkusa] do not possess the Seven Jewels required for a Chakravartin.
In the Anguttara Nikaya III.57.2, the Buddha himself states that human beings are of 6 jatiyam (births) viz. Kshatriya, Brahmana, Vaisya, Sudra, Chandala and Pukkusa.
The last two are outcastes.
The Buddha was recognised as a Kshatriya from his complexion and physiognomy.
Dighanikaya I.120 states the Buddha is of "unblemished parentage upto seven generations."
and of course, those born in the lower strata of society can only live in misery and die in misery. Sorry Navayanatards!
and, In practise, Buddhists of Sri Lanka, Ladakh and Nepal all practise the caste system as is practised in Hinduism.
In addition, The Burmese buddhists practise untouchability too!
