The biggest force driving people into situations putting them at risk of contracting COVID is the compulsion of capitalism – you work for a wage/salary or you starve. #onpoli

Doug Ford is so committed to avoiding any action that would demonstrate how government can loosen the hold of that compulsion that he is willing to let people die instead. #onpoli

Getting Ontario’s COVID case numbers under control means interfering in how capitalist workplaces function and it means giving people the supports that will allow them make healthy, safe choices in the face of capitalist compulsion. #onpoli

And, yeah, at this point it probably means a period of real, proper lockdown (as opposed to the pretend lockdown we currently have in Ontario) enabled by those supports. #onpoli

But Doug Ford would rather people die. Oh, and maybe he’ll institute a pointless curfew that looks like stern, manly action, while putting BIPOC people at risk from police and doing little to contribute to public health. #onpoli
