Claire Elizabeth Cottrill, mainly known as Clairo, is an american singer and songwriter who rose to stardom after going viral on youtube with the video for her song “Pretty Girl” and her music is still going viral with her music gaining hundreds of millions of streams online.
going viral:
in 2017, clairo released the music video for Pretty Girl from her bedroom. the production of the video was minimalistic but that’s what it made it so good. she’s spoken before about how she loves that internet popularity in music can change the career of any artist.

clairo has said in interviews about how collabs are great and these certainly don’t disappoint! combining different styles and musical aesthetics in her music is something she does really well and is probably why she’s gone viral, because it appeals to so many.

in 2018 she put out an EP called diary 001. it featured some of her singles and a few newer songs. she pushes for that indie pop aesthetic that catalysed her viral success in the first place and it’s a great listen, a good way for her to properly start out. i recommend it.
cemented:
most people after going viral, become irrelevant and their careers die off, but clairo has proven herself. Immunity was released in 2019 and was one of my favourites of the year. hits like Bags and mainly Sofia, broke the scene. with my personal favourite being Softly.
