Is this realistic? Vaccinating 54 million people (16+) means 108 million doses. To vaccinate these many people by autumn (Sept 22nd) - in 36 wks, we need to vaccinate 3 million people/wk. We're currently vaccinating at a rate 10x lower than this (300K/wk). https://twitter.com/PA/status/1348217677916073984
At the current rate this will take *7 years*. I know efforts will ramp up, hopefully, but seems odd to be making such claims without any indication of delivery so far. Worrying that vaccination is our only plan when the speed of vaccination being planned is far from guaranteed.
In the time it takes to vaccinate our population many more people will die, and get ill with long COVID. Even if we somehow manage to do this by autumn, which is completely unrealistic at the present moment.
