It was clear as can be this week that a significant number of white American Christians have anchored their hope in a kingdom radically unlike the kingdom of God. Worldly kingdoms exert strength by violent attempts to dominate. God comes as weak as a child and walks among us. 1/
May God grant our pastors courage this morning to call us back to the Upside-Down kingdom, marked by self-giving love, non-violent resistance of oppressive powers, and allegiance to Christ as our king. 2/
The white American evangelical church has traded this vision for proximity to worldly power, exchanging our birthright for a bowl of stew. We have lost our first love. We must repent. 3/3
