The most extraordinary story comes from Bitola, where 12.600 unexploded grenades have been found from World War I sitting under a stand of the stadium 'Tumbe Kafe', the home of FC Pelister! 💣

The minefield, full of grenades was found during the rebuilding of the stadium. 🇲🇰
A century since the World War I, the city of Bitola (Monastiri) still has leftovers of artillery ammunition. Back in 1922 there was an enormous explosion which left the city in ruins, caused by the stored ammunition (grenades, gas bombs) left for the soldiers of light infantry.
This means FC Pelister supporters have been cheering for the club under a minefield full of unexploded grenades since 1937, the opening of the stadium.

If it weren't for the rebuilding (finally!) of the stadium, the grenades definitely wouldn't have been found in near future.
The found grenades weigh around 7 kg each, meaning around 90 tons of dangerous explosives were laid under or near the stadium.

The Macedonian Army was called upon & the destruction of the grenades should be over by February, seven pyrotechnicians are involved in the big action.
The home of FC Pelister - 'Tumbe Kafe' holds 6.100 seats & is one of the most historic stadiums in the country.

The renovation should have been finished by now, but like every political project & promise in our country, this one is late too & still in process.
Hopefully, the fans will return to the stadiums soon & 'Čkembari' plus the citizens of Bitola will be safely back at the new stands of 'Tumbe Kafe', cheering for their home club, FC Pelister. 🟢⚪️
