Mini THREAD: I’ve made my way undercover into many Trump supportive & “patriot” Telegram groups which are continuing talks regarding their feelings, rage and potential actions. I’ve found the conspiracies fascinating, the sentiments sad & terrifying, and am constantly surprised.
The following posts are a few examples of what I’m reading- and my goal in posting is for us to continue to develop concepts of approach in how to combat these sentiments, false news attacks, and the general brainwashing of the individuals caught in these communities.
One common thing I’m seeing is tons of conspiracy and fear mongering that white folx are under attack and oppressed. Sites write articles that look legitimate and have “doctors” and “experts” weighing in. They get shared heavily w/ “we need to stand up for each other”.
You’ll note the above also is anti-Semitic. This theme I think many folx know is obvious within these cultures- but it’s not a universal sentiment. The point is that folx are being told that they are in a type of “MATRIX” and that they are “special”- born to fight the end of days
First question before I share more of what I’m seeing- how do we combat these fear monger fake news sites which blatantly target and “legitimize” the fears of poor/middle class white individuals- while allowing free market and expression? Petition? Reform 230? Play whacka mole?
Another thing that happens is live streams- often the stream is pulled down after it is saved & published- however while the event itself is live- it often isn’t deterred. Ppl then screenrecord the live and reupload and share widely. How do we have better handle on LIVE content?
Another obstacle- religion. I believe folx should be allowed to their own spirituality as long as it doesn’t require they impede anyone else access to food/shelter/water/physical safety/freedom of movement. However- many people have been told that Trump is a sign of End Of Days.
Because people have been told Trump is an End of Days catalyst- many folx feel that to not believe in Trump is to not believe in God or Jesus. They’ve conflated USA politics with portions of the Bible and I think it’s almost impossible to shift their perspective because of it.
So the third question I have is: freedom of spirituality is important but should it ever have accountability to an extent? These people have their fear of their afterlife fate exploited by folx with political agendas- it’s psychologically abusive imo. How do we address this?
Another thing is that folx like Don Jr have their own threads on sites and are still actively via video telling people to rebel, fight and prepare for total erasure. Using language like “the totalitarian govt will soon be in control. Prepare for more discrimination”.
The responses to Don JRs post (which I wont share for obvious reasons) are frequently people sharing what type of guns they have, their intent to buy, and organizing in armed protest. I’ve reported these accounts to the FBI via their link. Don JR has not blocked these people.
Quick update to this thread- this is being widely circulated. Really fascinating attempt to maintain hope and instill fear. How can we free these folx from the poison in their social networking waters? Is it free speech if it enslaves the minds of those that listen?
