“Why should I get the #covidvaccine if I’m low risk?”

A 🧵

👇👇👇👇👇👇

First, this is an excellent question and thank you for reading 👏 👏

When I’ve heard this asked, the speaker believes themselves to be low risk for a 🦠 related ☠️ due to age or overall health status from #covid19

2/
First, I just want to let you don’t know ahead of time if you’re 🍀 or unlucky. Risk of ☠️ is increased with certain factors, but does not depend on those factors.

We also hope that the 💉 will decrease spread “enough” but let’s move on as we are still waiting for more data.

Here’s why I don’t want #COVID19, even if I don’t ☠️

❌ I don’t want to miss 10 days of work. My colleagues & learners depend on me. I enjoy working. I don’t want to be trapped.

❌ I don’t want to feel 🤒 . Some of my friends had mild symptoms. Others were bedridden.

4/
❌ I’m the one who takes care of everyone in my household.

❌ My husband will have to miss work too if I test ➕

❌ I will have to isolate from my husband and kids while positive because I don’t know if they would do worse than me (I’m looking at you kid #2)

5/
❌ I don’t want to be admitted to a hospital, have lung damage, or need oxygen for weeks.

❌ I don’t want to run the risks of long term side effects, such as #longcovid or ❤️ damage

6/
For me, the risks of vaccine side effects far outweigh the risks of even non-death #covid19

(My side effects from dose 1&2 were temporary redness, swelling, & arm pain at injection site, not limiting my life.)

These are difficult decisions.

Good luck!👍🍀
