See WAR's letter in The Canary 'The demonisation of Assange paves the way for more rape and murder by the State' @deepa_driver @DerbyChrisW @NilsMelzer @LissaKJohnson https://twitter.com/TheCanaryUK/status/1348248238076391424
We’re relieved the court ruled not to extradite Julian Assange to the US. The refusal of bail must be reversed immediately – his isolation in Belmarsh was classified as torture by the UN Special Rapporteur. @NilsMelzer @TheCanaryUK
Alleged sex offences in Sweden initiated a witch-hunt against Assange and diverted from Wikileaks and Chelsea Manning’s exposure of US-UK war crimes, including rape and murder.
The witch-hunt invited women furious at the neglect of rape by the criminal justice system to join that system against Assange. Contrast their determination to get him with the deadly lack of state protection for most victims – rape & DV have been decriminalised.
If the State was serious about violence they’d increase benefits & services, inc. for immigrants denied under No Recourse to Public Funds. And end the ‘presumption of contact’ which enables violent men to terrorise us through family courts. @NotSeparation @AfricanGr
The #DomesticAbuseBill could address these injustices. Instead the government promotes the Spy Cops Bill to enable rape, torture, and even murder by state agents or corporations. War crimes Wikileaks exposed would be legalised.
