Job Titles make people unhappy ... and here is why:

You might think that a title shows how a company recognizes your skill, but really it isn't ...
A career ladder is instrument companies use to make you do what they need you to do and they add other incentives on top.

But here is a thing - they create destruction in your mental model of who you want to be.
They make you forget what you really want to be doing, what makes you happy.

At some point, this tears you apart from the inside, consciously or not.
You end up chasing the path company offers you to go and most of the time it means you have to neglect what you really wanted to do.

And that's a slippery slope for you personally and for the company as well.

In the end, it makes you living unfulfilling life in a golden cage.
