You can't replace religion with a non-religion. You can only replace religion with another religion or maybe a new pseudo-religion which will over time become a new religion. This thing is most visible in replacing Hinduism with Indian nationalism.
The Indian state forces us to give up Hindu identity, traditions and rituals but pushes Indian identity, traditions and rituals. Instead of Narayana and Mahadeva, they make the country India as the sole God, instead of Ramayan & Mahabharat, the Constitution as the holy book.
It stops Hindu rituals but forces it's own rituals like standing up at national anthem or saluting the Tiranga. It stops Hindus from giving feast after death but itself gives gun salute after death of someone relevant. It bans gatherings on Diwali but not on Independence day.
Instead of Hindu deities like Shri Ram or Shri Krishna, it forces it's own deities Gandhi, Ambedkar etc.

It may have started off as a way to curb religious tensions but it ended up at the same place : a new religion.

What is unfortunate is that Hindus themselves support this.
They are readily giving up Hindu identity to take up the larger broader Indian identity. They are willing to drop their religious ties with Pakistani Hindus & instead ally with their age old enemy, the Indian Muslims. Infact even the most critical Hindus criticize Muslims to
not be Indian enough instead of asking them to be Hindu. This off course will have drastic results which Moplah riots are a good example of.

So what is the solution ? Will the intelligent RW also keep pandering to Indian nationalism or will they assert their Hinduness ?
