“But people are sick & people are dying”, we are all aware of how serious #Covid19 is, the alcohol industry is not naively asking for normal alcohol trade, they are asking for trading hours/support which will allow them to survive. Imagine losing a loved one AND your job!...2/10
Governments failures re #Covid19InSA, as well as alcohol abuse cannot & should not be passed solely onto the Alcohol industry. RSA should of secured a vaccine ASAP, as this will save lives & is the only way we can hope to get back to some sort of normality (economy & life)...3/10
Government should be held to account for not securing a vaccine ASAP, this is INEXCUSABLE!. “But we don’t have the money”, let’s say we don’t have the money, stop bailing out SAA etc, secure a loan from the IMF, no one wants to get into “bad debt”, but this...4/10

As per the LTASA, retail liquor trade employs over 14 000 employees, whose families are dependent on them for income. These businesses are completely dependent on the sale of liquor for their survival. This is not like Woolies etc merely closing off their “alcohol section”.. 8/10
The #AlcoholBan & it’s financial impact on many needs to be addressed. This is not to say open up alcohol trade as normal, but rather asks people to look at the big picture, government has to come to the party instead of vilifying

our national GDP (4.4% with a 2.08 multiplier effect). I just touched on some factors above in order to open up an honest conversation about the #AlcoholBan, which is much more dire than what some would like to portray. 10/10. END
