// cmc situation

I am so fucking tired of the big streamers' takes. These big-mouthed fuckers have a platform, many of them influencing young and impressionable fans, and they should be treating the situation with clarity and respect to the victims.
1. Carson is, by many people's personal moral standards, not a pedophile, due to the age gap being ""only two years"". However, the behaviour that he engaged in (soliciting and sending nudes to minors knowing their age) IS LEGALLY CONSIDERED PEDOPHILIA.
Romeo and Juliet laws do not apply, since it was a directly sexual, interstate solicitation, which started after Carson was already a legal adult. Carson openly admitted that this behaviour was wrong, but continued it in spite of his personal moral judgement.
2. It's the way he solicited these pictures which is the main crux of the problem, NOT the age gap. He deliberately sought out fans who would be in awe and admiration for him and his content, and infringed on the parasocial relationship in a way that was an abuse of power.
3. "But why did they bring this up to Keemstar, who would make the worst of the situation?"
Noah explains below. Furthermore, all the members of Lunch Club have made individual statements based on their personal experiences. https://twitter.com/NoahHugbox/status/1346656519971082244?s=20
4. "I can't believe Carson's friends would throw him under the bus like that."
There are so many assumptions being made here. Charlie's decision to report it as a crime was correct in terms of legal responsibility, Schlatt's was to allow the opportunity for change as a friend.
While different responses, both are valid for their key intent.

5. Exposure of this kind of behaviour, whether from friends or not, is DIRECTLY NECESSARY IN THIS CASE. As none of his friends were ever really sure, as stated by Schlatt, if these behaviours had ever stopped,
making a public warning is one of the potential safeguards against the dangers posed against other potential victims. They had, and completed, their obligation towards the community as a whole.
6. Finally, in the subtext of Schlatt's video, there were evidently background behaviours that haven't been brought to light considering how Carson may have treated other creators. Clearly not everything has been shown to the public.
This is all coming from someone who greatly admired Carson and his content. Before these accusations, I would have been eager to call myself a fan, but it's important to see Carson's content as an extension of himself, and recognise that his platform is a danger to his community.
