Two comments abt impeachment: first, if it takes a bit of time, then more people can be added (and prohibited from elected office).
Also, it is FAR more important to get Merrick Garland confirmed and a new acting US Attorney in DC in place than to rush impeachment in first week of Biden Admin.
And yes, having impeachment in his pocket to schedule at his convenience will be useful for Schumer.
One more point: Pushing impeachment IN THE HOUSE right now may press the GOP to fracture more, hopefully undermining McCarthy's hold.
Re: Pardons. It is false to say that impeachment would prevent Trump from making pardons. Not how it works.
