I’ve thought a lot about what it means to allow kids to play during a pandemic. You feel split in half: you want to keep them safe, and you want them to do what they love as those moments are precious and finite. #LetThemPlayCA

I believe the appropriate response is to look at the data, observe comparable groups, survey stake holders, and weigh the risks and benefits. Then you put yourself in the roll of a parent (which I am) and ask, “Would I let them play?” #LetThemPlayCA
My answer is yes. I have 2 year old and 9month old are thriving because I’m blessed enough to have child care. The socialization, the activities, the learning have been transformative. I don’t know what I would do if my babies couldn’t get out and play.
But I also respect the limitations of my knowledge and expertise. I’m a teacher, a coach, an AD. I’m not a Dr, an epidemiologist, or an expert in public health. But know kids, and kids need to play. #LetThemPlayCA
If playing this year is out of the question, so be it. But if that’s true, the children of this state deserve to hear it from @GavinNewsom And the longer he waits, he doesn’t just take away opportunities. He takes our power by hiding the truth for political gain.
On Wednesday, our country was shaken to the core because lies had replaced truth, and faith in our government had completely eroded for millions of Americans. Yet faith can be restored, but only with honesty.
In the aftermath of the insurrection, @SenatorRomney said that if you want to show respect to the voters you do it “by telling them the truth.” And the truth is not always what we want to hear, but we deserve it all the same. Do right @GavinNewsom #LetThemPlayCA
