Just want to comment on something that @SciAlta has been tweeting about tonight and that is small town chatter. I will say coming from a small town he really hits the nail on the head. Maybe it's something politicians don't get or certain ones understand.
Nobody really wants to share beliefs that don't fit in to the majority of the people around them. Peer pressure and voting shaming is common.
And when I see an angry mob show up at the White House I see all the same kind of follower mentality take shape. I don't know where these people are from but they don't think for themselves the least bit.
So I'm at work and one my coworkers starts talking politics and wouldn't you know it all the same conspiracy theory stuff starts coming out of his mouth. I told him that conspiracy theory websites are the new addiction to escape from reality.
They were cheaper than drugs and alcohol.
Then the subject gets to the Trump riot and he starts talking about election rigging and what can you believe anymore. Told him to use his brain and if there is a link to how to support this website on the bottom to call bullshit.
Anyway I see the nice polling numbers for the NDP , I have to say it's an uphill battle in some places of this province to be honest because people can't accept any opinion that isn't the popular opinion. I just get labeled "the left" when I'm more or less in the middle.
I tweeted about Newhart last night and that's one of my favorite shows because it puts this small town group thinking on display. Always makes me laugh watching it.
