Ok, I may have lied. I am going to get political for a second. The narrative that is pushed by the West, that Stalin and Hitler's governments were comparable in atrocities, is very dangerous and needs to be examined (1/)
Yes, the USSR and Nazi Germany signed a non-aggression pact early on. However, taking this at face value, rather than understanding that the alternative would've been an unprepared USSR being demolished, is dangerous and completely ignores the context of a weak USSR (2/)
The "death count" Stalin, which is attributed to Holodomor and the Gulags, is also very factually void of reason. Holodomor was partially initiated by economic sanctions from the West, which cut off trade from the USSR. No I am not admonishing Stalin, but it is overhyped (3/)
As for the "20 million dead" number, you are citing the Black Book of Communism, written by the Nazis, which included the deaths of not just the USSR but of WWII in Eastern Europe in general. These were intentionally included to inflate the numbers (4/)
To say the USSR is a blanket model to admire is not entirely correct either of course. We can always improve, and re-education is a big issue we need to further examine. Still, the USSR had free education, guaranteed housing, equality for men and women etc. (5/)
In other words, if you are choosing between the USSR and the US, the USSR had better material conditions for the working class, far better in fact. Blurring the lines between the atrocities of Hitler and the shortcomings of Stalin intentionally furthers a false narrative (6/)
One is a bloodthirsty capitalist nation that employed demagoguery to place the blame of the deteriorating capitalist conditions on certain religious and ethnic groups, among others (Jews, gays, Gypsies etc.). The other was a socialist vanguard project that we can learn from (7/)
Basically, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME AND YOU SAYING THEY ARE OR EVEN COMPARABLE IS DANGEROUS AND DISCOUNTS THE NECESSARY WORKER RIGHTS ESTABLISHED IN THE USSR.

The USSR and Nazi Germany were NOTHING alike (8/8)
Also real quick, the USSR collapsed because of internal coup attempts and Boris Yeltsin intentionally doing so, not communism. So re-examine that too.
Also, fvck Khrushchev lmao
