All of these tech CEOs are vanguards for returning profits for shareholders not protecting democracy.
In a global pandemic, we have seen quite clearly how technology — and access to technology — powers modern civic life. This is our public square.

Technology platform CEOs are not vanguards for democracy. They are not leaders. They are sheep.
Only after white supremacists tried to wipe out an entire branch of government was action taken.
THEN every single other platform to belatedly follows. This is not accountability.

But principles of capitalism, not humanity or democracy, powers both technology companies and Trump supporters.

The incentives are misaligned. Technology platforms have directly benefitted from profit-driven mass emotional manipulation.

Coming back from this, these broken systems, enabled abuse and entrenched power abuses is long, hard and complicated.
It will require so much, including: leadership, sustained focus, strategic collaboration, long-term investment and INFRASTRUCTURE.

There are no easy solutions and it is natural to want one.
I wish I had one.
But I know we do not win back our democracy or this country's voters by playing the same game as extremists.
