** The Cuba Missile Crisis **
The date is 26 July 1953 that in Cuba communist revolution happened and on 1 Jan 1959 Communist were successful in overthrowing the Cuban government This prompted the US government to do an invasion and help Cuban exiles to win war against commies

The invasion named Bay of pigs was started by USA on 17 April 1961 which resulted in humiliation for American government they lost the war

In year 1962 Nikita Khrushchev the then Soviet First Secretary was persuaded by idea of deploying long range nukes in Cuba despite the misgivings of Soviet Ambassador in Cuba Khrushchev thought that America will strike first as they have huge no of ICBM gap

They only had 20 icbm as compared to America which had upper hand in tech and range of missiles newer nukes will be operational in 1965 so The Soviet in 1962 placed missiles that can strike Alaska and American allies

There was another reason why Khrushchev did that the reason was that the west Berlin which was under allies control be given to Soviet orbit he thought that this missile deployment will give them a bargain hand

Also America was increasing its presence in Cuba region to counter that he did that

In 1962 some Agricultural delegations was sent from Soviet Union to Cuba had got permission to meet the then Cuban President Fidel Castro . Cubans knew that America will invade them someday and they've to be ready for that but he said that let's have a defense deal

He said doesn't want to be Soviet puppet but he was persuaded that these low range missiles will give Cuba a shield from attack by America

In May Khrushchev and Castro agreed to place nukes on strategic places in Cuba . Troops were sent to Cuba in disguise of tourists the missile were placed and Chief Marshall of Artillery Sergei Biryuzov told Khrushchev that misilles are camouflaged by palm trees

On September 20 the US Senate approved Joint Resolution 230 that said that US was determined to prevent Cuba the external military support that can endanger The United States the Cuban leadership was upset by it

Also on the same day in Caribbean America did a military exercise which gave an indication that America is gonna invade Cuba

The Soviet leadership thought that Kennedy had lack of confidence during Bay of Pigs invasion and he wouldn't attack Cuba rather have a deal with them on September 11 Soviet Union publicly warned American from attacking Soviet ships if it did it will be an act of war

As an early as August 1962 US intelligence got sighting of Russian Mig 21 Il 28 light bomber also S 75 at different locations. This was found by U 2 spy plane of America CIA director wrote letter to President John Kennedy that in Aug Soviet was gonna place ballistic missiles

In Cuba . On Aig 31 Senator Kenneth Keating charged the Kennedy administration that they put a cover up and America is under threat which started a crisis

Air force General Curtis LeMay presented a pre invasion bombing on Cuba

The Soviet were building 9 sites 6 for R 12 medium range missiles with 2k km range and 3 for R 14 long range missiles with range of 4500 km
