We need a third party. It requires experienced organizers.

Troll a candidate to run on a party ticket that doesn't exist, and supporters might reject the candidate.

I've worked with great activist groups who want to launch third parties. Here are things we've discussed:

1/8
1. Learn the laws of each state for establishing a party. In some states, the requirements vary by county. Know fundraising laws in your state and follow them.

2. Organize in each state and network. File ALL required state and federal registrations and reports.

2/8
3. Work as a collaboration of skillsets. Avoid hierarchies which allow egos to rule. Canvas. Learn the demographics of each district and the issues that affect them. Pay your staff.

You can't do this on Twitter alone.

3/8
4. Network with other organizations, including local parties such as WFP, Green, and independent state parties. Respect their autonomy. Collaborate to prop up candidates who share your platform. That's how many parties grow.

4/8
5. Fundraise in each state party and at the national level. National should provide resources and professional expertise where needed. Organizing costs should include funding for a ground game in each state.

5/8
6. Recruit good candidates, and support them. Know the rules about campaign coordination and follow them. Some progressive orgs have been hit with FEC complaints.

Democrats and Republicans get away with it. Progressives don't.

6/8
7. Expect the Republican and Democratic parties to challenge your party's place on the ballot. Legal challenges could cost $1M or more in some states, over and above organizing costs.

7/8
8. Above all, be transparent at every level. Be honest with volunteers about the progress of their effort. Follow the law, so that you don't waste their hard work and sacrifices.

(My thanks to @MrHoneyWayz for asking the hard questions) 🙌🏽
