@jkenney has been repeatedly saying that the #COVID19AB numbers are some of the "best" in the country. It didn't seem to add up, so I went ahead and reviewed the data available- and he's been deliberately misleading Albertans. Here's the federal data from January 7th:
Now when you look at that, maybe #COVID19AB could look like it's better than other provinces. But this is where statistics can get dangerous- data without context. Let's take a look at the provincial per capita infection rate- Alberta is second worst in Canada
Ok... well maybe @jkenney means we're getting better with #COVID19AB recently. Let's take a look at the per capita case rate in the last week. Nope... still the second worst in the country. Why is the #UCP lying to us?
This is starting to look pretty bad for #COVID19AB, right? Maybe the current active cases paint a different picture that supports what @jkenney has been telling us. Nope. Second worst in the country as well. Maybe the @abndpcaucus isn't "fear mongering"...
Well, maybe with all the #UCPvacations they were just looking from a death rate perspective. We're fourth in the country per capita! That's still not good. And in the last seven days... we're in a three-way tie for #1. #COVID19AB isn't looking like @jkenney is trying to say
Last chance I guess... maybe we're the best at testing? Now the numbers are backwards on this- the best jurisdictions in the country come at the top, and descend to the worst. Where you'll find #COVID19AB lurking in the middle of the pack.
There's no question when you look at the evidence. #COVID19AB is a disaster and @jkenney is lying to #Alberta.
