I am almost 38 years old.

This entitled mentality in a PvP mode that is inherently supposed to reward efforts to improve instead of just handouts...is at the root of our concern for the direction of PvP & the the introduction of the extreme crowd control mechanics of Stasis. https://twitter.com/zstation/status/1347944464640331778
@zstation: I am glad you are enjoying Stasis, truly. I am glad that we have one more player inducted into the fold of PvP. Trust me, we need you.

I feel like my statement above is a bit divisive and condescending, so I apologize and I'll elaborate.

1/?
PvP (player-vs-player) games inherently carry the expectation that w/ more time invested to develop skill, there will be more reward in the increased ability to defeat opponents, and especially opponents with less skill/time invested.

This is referred to as the "skill gap."

2/?
Destiny has always had elements in PvP which, thru high ease of use & availability, reduced the skill gap, allowing substantially less skilled players to hold their own against those w/ more.

However, there were counters available which didn't necessarily slow pace of play.

3/?
In recent years, guns & abilities w/ fewer counters (& even fewer that were easily accessible to more casual players) have been added to the game & it started to become overwhelming w/ very little reprieve from Bungie (e.g., mountaintop/recluse, bastion, arbelest, etc.).

4/?
Now we generally have the best gun meta in D2's history and incredible, unique movement on all 3 characters (on top of next-gen consoles), making PvP feel the best it's ever felt overall...except for Stasis freezing/slowing.

5/?
Freezing/slowing abilities in neutral game (not super) has such high ease of use, availability, & damage potential that it has few counters (& even fewer accessible to more casual players) other than freeze/slow first or to literally wait far back out of range, slowing play.

6/?
Stasis neutral abilities (esp on Stasis hunter) easily counter even Light supers.

I did a poll last week asking what felt best about D2's PvP & I feel it is consistent w/ the priorities that most folks have expressed to me over the past 5 years.

7/?
Nobody wants to put effort into something & constantly be robbed of a reward simply because the system is rigged against self-improvement & hard work.

This runs counter to any player vs. player environment, esp one of marketed to us as high stakes (i.e., Trials of Osiris).

8/?
Five years of PvP at high level & I've only survived being frozen one time, yesterday. The sheer magnitude of Stasis abilities at play in any given moment in a match is overwhelming to the point that their use more times than not determines the outcome of a match.

9/
It's so impactfully oppressive, it reduces the skill gap down to whoever uses abilities first.

Improvement is supposed to reward kills & wins, (and pinnacle loot in high-stakes modes (i.e., Trials)), but freezing/slowing to this magnitude run counter to the spirit of mode.

10/?
Stasis & freezing/slowing abilities are inseparable.

At the moment, I'm not advocating for Stasis to be removed from QP or IB, but for modes like Trials & Comp/Survival that are marketed as rewarding improvement, skill, & time invested, Bungie should remove Stasis until...

11/?
...they are able to implement solutions that don't make the grind for pinnacle loot almost solely based on who freezes/slows opponents first & make self-improvement practically meaningless.

Hope this helps, & apologies again for the poor initial comms. We are frustrated.
