scholarly writing is a very valuable skill set in medicine
it's NOT writing H&Ps, progress notes, discharge summaries, etc., etc., etc.
this is a different type of hypothesis-driven writing that engaged different parts of the brain and cognitive process

case reports may be at the bottom of the evidence pyramid...but the bottom is also a FOUNDATION
