I know I have very few followers, but maybe this will go somewhere if some people with more clout see it and respond. My thoughts.

Trump and his associates told the American People that the election--a thing of inestimable value--had been stolen from them.
It was an enormous, dangerous, and ultimately deadly lie, but they believed him. And, here we are.

In remarks Wednesday night, Mitt Romney got a round of spontaneous applause from the Senate--a group not normally known for spontaneity--just for saying we ought to tell... /2
...the American People the truth, that the election was not stolen. It was a simple thing, but it resonated, and it's why the House and Senate need to impeach and remove.

People pay their Reps and Senators to represent their interests in Washington (God knows they don't.../3
...get much for their money but that's for another day. But they also pay them to come back home and honestly tell them what's going on in Washington.

When a terrible lie like "the election was stolen" (which is also an attack on every state government but more on that later) /4
surfaces in the Federal Government and causes havoc, each branch of government is called upon to respond with the truth. Judiciary has already done its truth-telling--by hearing, and in some cases throwing out, over 60 lawsuits.

/5
The Executive Branch, to its enduring shame, is too compromised to use the 25th Amendment. Now it falls to the Legislative Branch--representatives in the House and Senate—to respond by telling the truth to the American People using the mechanisms of Impeachment, Conviction,
/6
and Removal of President Trump.
You sometimes hear people ask "Why do we even need a trial when everybody already knows what happened?" But it's important to remember that a trial--even the unusual format of the Impeachment (House) and Conviction/Removal (Senate) trial, /7
...is ultimately an exercise in truth-telling. It's a way to sort out what happened and get it in the permanent record. The House and Senate need to tell the truth about what Donald Trump and his associates did, and hold him to account (hopefully IMHO by removing him) .../8
so the American People will know about the lie and see justice done.
Many are saying that time is too short, and that we should just forget this thing and move on, calling for unity. But they misunderstand the power of the lie, and the importance of putting the truth on the.../9
permanent record. The lie of the stolen election can't be allowed to fester: it'll keep being used to feed resentment and raise money, it'll erode trust in State governments, who are in charge of running elections, and it will most certainly eat the Federal Government alive. /10
Federal creatures, like Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham, who’ve made careers of fiddling with the levers of power, should consider how quickly the crowd turned on Mike Pence when he did one little thing they didn’t like. /11
So, it’s clear that the lie must be countered. Mitt Romney intuitively understood this when he stressed the importance of telling the American People the truth by certifying the election results. I hope he’ll continue on by supporting calls for impeachment and removal of.../12
Donald Trump, the political elimination of Trump’s associates, and helping put an end to fundraising based on lies calculated to play on resentment. If you’re looking for an analogy, I think we need an approach more like the one applied to Nazism at the end of WW2, than like /13
...the approach applied at the end of the US Civil war, which allowed a “lost cause” narrative to survive and emerge to bite us all, earlier this week.

Some will think of telling the truth about the big election lie and eliminating those who exploited it .../14
from our national discourse, as an impossible task, because it would require people on “both sides of the aisle” to work together. I think those folks should note that “the aisle” has moved, and is now placed squarely between rule of law and cult of personality, not where it /15
...used to be, between Democrats and Republicans.

Fail to address it, and watch it consume us all.

The above isn't fancy, just my effort to put thoughts about the "stolen election" lie into ordinary person words. Thanks.
