In no way is this Greenwood slander I really hope the best for him and am simply explaining why he’s had a dip in form recently. I’m really backing him to get into his former self and believe he can at such a young age. It will take time and I believe 
Today’s game brought me to the realization that has been pondering my head for quite a few months. What has happened to Mason Greenwood? Ever since the Iceland incident man hasn’t looked the same. Just flashes of brilliance that’s all and trying to be unbiased, let’s think.
Mason Greenwood offers something to Manchester United. A unique ability to finish. But countless times this season has he been selfish and not made the easy pass. Yes he’s a striker and has loads of natural finishing, but isn’t this simple awareness a problem?
It’s a problem because it’s happened times and times again. Which leads us to another problem which is how good Mason Greenwood is on the ball. Greenwood is unique because he’s not a youngster that can dribble and create things, he needs help from teammates to be successful.
Another thing, have you seen him really get himself into too many good positions in the box? I mean at least for me I’ve seen him come in to receive the ball and his dribbling and close space dribbling isn’t the greatest. This is a problem imo that he needs to develop.
Finally, his physicality and heading is something he has to improve on to be successful in this physical of a league. Rashford did it and completely transformed himself as a player. And he has to have the Will and intensity to do this imo.
Please don’t take this as Greenwood slander but today I’ve realized that there’s a lot to his game that he can improve on and he has to take it into his hands. His natural finishing talent is really good, but he has to learn the basics a little bit more to make this effective.
Especially this season, players like CHO, ESR, Curtis Jones, Phil foden, and other youngsters are more technically developed, stronger, and overall are just more well rounded as footballers. I love Greenwood, and he has the talent, but some basics need to be improved on.
Right now, you can say Greenwood is in a goal drought, but at the moment he isn’t bringing creativity to the United side at all and has to figure it out immediately. And tbh I really hope he does because it injuries come along United are done for.
It’s sad how this much of a drop off has happened and the guy has to keep grinding and address this because we know how good he truly can be. If he polishes his game, he can make a name for himself. We’re all with you Mason .
