In a #footballindex world abscent of IPD, they’ve got to find a way to keep it fun and relevant on a day like today when PB was pretty much wrapped up before the majority of games had kicked off. Low interest for holders in tracking their players with little hope of a reward
Hadn’t paid too much attention to the threshold PB score payout idea floated around until now - seems a no brainer to me as a way to fill the significant IPD void and crucially find a way to preserve the enjoyment factor of the product
There were 62 goals across PB league matches today. For ease of argument, assume each one has an eligible assist (2p) and the scorer gets 2p. This equates to a £2.48 total payout
With a PB threshold payout approach, set the minimum hurdle of 200 let’s say - just 11 players managed to clear this. 1p >200, 2p >250, 3p >300. This equates to a £0.16 total payout based on today’s PB scores
Clearly these numbers have just been picked to make a point, for clarification, I don’t think this is necessarily the best way to do it. What is evident is that FI needed to reduce their IPD payout liability hence the shock decision made yesterday
On today’s evidence they would be reducing payout quite significantly and there is a lot of scope to find alternative payouts which can keep the demand in a range of players across the platform
Lower FI liability preserving financial health, potential for developing more sustainable divs and removing a negative price pressure driver. Nothing not to like about that. Hope they come up with a suitable and swift solution to replace IPD without harming user base interest
