I find this interesting on Bergkamp describing the Ajax youth he encountered.

Thinking about the US most players are skewed towards individual training and club training than actually playing and coming up with their own ideas about the ball.

Now in my son's journey...
He's more hype to play or show me something or play panna.

If i try to do tech drills (trust me I've tried😅) that doesn't get him as excited as playing a game of some sort.

I wonder when many of us coaches are pushing hard to do this drill or that where does a player become
Unique? In rap everyone has their own flow. Everyone's grandma cooks the same dish a different way in their own flavor.

Dinho expressed his ability different from Messi. Body type, culture, environment, what comes natural, creative.

In our US system isn't Pulisic the only
Player who seems truly unique? Like i said I'm all for training but now with my sons journey starting we are playing on the courts here in holland for hours, we play in the house.

He comes to me with new moves and his own way. I feel maybe players lack an identity in the
States. With the ball and personality. I liked @FirstTouchDev post yesterday about us rushing development.

Parents, coaches want to instill Ronaldo training habits but no clue of the environment that made him.

Could those kids be dropped in Brazil or streets of Paris and
Ball? Would they stand out being in an uncomfortable environment?

Unstructured just raw street ball?

Are the players unique or do they and their parents feels training makes them special?

What about adversity and creativity? Can they overcome and do they have creativity?
To me players should find their identity first and "Play" with the ball. Who are you with the ball?

Of course you can always teach and show but how much comes from the player?

All the moves taught by us technical coaches we first demonstrated by players who found solutions
In pickup matches and games. Maradona dribbles different than Kaka, Robinho different than R9.

To me their explored who they were through play and culture at home first.

Just some thoughts, what do you think?

@FirstTouchDev @CoachMoHughes @pgyoungboys @BDaniels_19 @TeamCAA11
This is everyday at the courts now here in our small village in Schagen. I've noticed my son's ability and thought process change in these 10v10 matches.

No only creating an identity by playing but also his personality etc. He feels free to play and express himself.
Just some thoughts
More from Bergkamp. No saying anyone is right or wrong I just want to challenge my own thinking and process.

Also take into account the culture and system I'm dealing with. In Holland 🇳🇱 they have a culture of football, an identity. In the states its a different identity
@waltmerino yo Walter whats the scene in Cali? Do kids get together to just play?
