There are many anime out there that takes far-fetched ideas and turn them into incredible pieces of art. Then there are some that take a relatively simple idea and create something extraordinary.—
Here there are no major twists, no unsolved mysteries, and no attempt to reach further than it should.
If I were allowed only one word to sum up this show, it would be "Sincere".
If I were allowed only one word to sum up this show, it would be "Sincere".
The initial episodes first introduce us to four high school girls, all of whom differ in their motives, but are united under a sole purpose to reach Antartica. They use another character's flaw to cover each other and keep progressing over time, lots of obstacles aren't solved—
by only the MC Instead all of the characters play equally important roles to help each other out. SoraYori never puts anyone to the sideline, allowing each character to interact with every conflict and flesh out their dynamics.
While each episode focuses on one person, each is really "about" everyone. Those conflicts need to carry weight, and with a cast of endearing and human characters who are multi-faceted, and break from any potential archetypes, its very easy for each conflict to leave an impact.
Their different troubles back home and reasons to go as far as Antarctica to work on them,or get away from them, were all used in a great way to develop the 4 Girls during the whole show. Viewers are bound to relate to at least one of the four girls' difficulties and personality.
And even if thats not the case, we're made to care about what happens to them. Each reason resonates and grows clearer as the show progresses. The ideas are not forced out with no reason. They appear straightforward enough but become exponentially more complex and emotional.
Some desires are premeditated and crafted, others are impromptu. Regardless, each girl has their reasons for being there, and it’s one of the most inspirational aspects of the series. Despite personal afflictions, and the whole world dismissing their dreams, they never quit.
Overall, It’s a story about overcoming your fears and letting go of things holding you back. It's about getting closure, finding yourself, finding out what friendship truly is and also traveling to Antarctica.
It’s a story of 4 high-school girls, strangers in the beginning, best friends in the end and how they help each other grow into better and stronger people.—
Yes. It truly is an adventure, and it's one that wholeheartedly embraces the juvenile rawness of our youth: the time between childhood and adulthood, the time when the world still feels unknown, and the time of growth like meeting those people who you can call your friends.
