I know most Vancouverites feel sick about what’s going on in the US. Trumpism is insidious and it is EVERYWHERE. Here is a little thread about a problem we have in YVR.

@NPAVancouver is one of the main municipal parties in Vancouver. Four current councillors are members. (1/5)

One of @NPAVancouver’s current directors is Christopher Wilson. He’s also in charge of their fundraising efforts.

Christopher Wilson was a Rebel Media employee for years. For those of you not up to speed on extreme right rhetoric — that’s what Rebel Media publishes. (2/5)

You’re probably thinking, “maybe he was a part of Rebel, but he has grown and learned his lesson. Or perhaps he was part of it when it was less extreme.”

In September 2020, Christopher Wilson advocated for Vancouver citizens to harass our local homeless population. (3/5)

Many prominent NPA members have voiced concerns, but ultimately taken zero action.

Other people, like former NPA mayoral candidate @kensimcity, said they were no longer affiliated. And current YVR councillor @rebeccaleebligh left the NPA & became independent in late 2019. (4/5)

It is very concerning that @NPAVancouver President David Mawhinney and current councillors @CllrHardwick @sarahkirby_yung @LisaDominato @MelissaDeGenova are not taking stand against this behaviour in their party. Sim and Bligh did the right thing.
