Daniel Dumile, better known as MF DOOM, Viktor Vaughn, King Geedorah, as well as other aliases, has been one of the most influential and talented artists and lyricists of the '90s and 2000s, going on to inspire many modern artists to come out in recent years.
His first splash into the underground hip-hop scene was his involvement in the rap collective KMD, where he was called Zev Love X, standing alongside DJ Subroc (his brother), and Rodan, who was eventually replaced with Onyx the Birthstone Kid.
Their debut record, Mr. Hood, placed 67th US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and was released in 1991. During the recording of their next album "Black Bastards", DJ Subroc was killed, effectively disbanding the group. Black Bastards was eventually officially released in 2001.
After the disbandment of KMD, Daniel Dumile had left the underground hip-hop scene until 1997, where he had rebranded himself under the MF DOOM moniker, and in 1999 he released his debut record "Operation: Doomsday"
MF DOOM, aside from his Special Herbs series, released nothing until 2003, in which he went on a 5 album run. He created the aliases King Geedorah and Viktor Vaughn, releasing Take me to your leader and Vaudville Villain in 2003.
In 2004, two of DOOM's most acclaimed and legendary records are released, Madvillainy and MM... FOOD. Venomous Villain was also released under the Viktor Vaughn name, however, it was held to less of a standard than the other records released this year.
Madvillainy is a collaboration project between MF DOOM and Madlib, in which Madlib is producing the entire record. This album is noted as one the best underground hip-hop records of all time and is often noted as both MF DOOM's and Madlib's magnum opus.
Later in the year, DOOM releases MM... FOOD, a self-produced record that's in contention with being at the top of DOOM's discography. It's an album based on food metaphors and double entendres.
After he dropped these 5 projects, DOOM later in 2005 goes on to collaborate with Adult Swim and Danger Mouse to make The Mouse and The Mask. This project brings him into the mainstream just a bit, with this most likely being his most nerdy and least villainous album.
His last solo project under the MF DOOM name, Born Like This, released in 2009. His voice is the huskiest and gritty it has ever been, and this project is the most villainous sounding album he has released.
Into 2012, DOOM and Jneiro Jarel collaborate under the duo name JJ DOOM and create Keys to the Kuffs, featuring guest appearances like Damon Albarn, the main composer of the band Gorrilaz.
JJ DOOM later releases the Bookhead ep, It features 9 tracks from the 2013 Butter Edition re-release of Key to the Kuffs.
He was then in a collaborative project with Ghostface Killah, called Czarface Meets Metal Face. It was released in 2018, officially being the last album that DOOM was a part of before he was announced dead.
Throughout 2008-2018, DOOM was apart of other projects, such as MF Doom & Trunks Presents Unicron and NerhuvianDOOM, in which he was mostly or solely producing.
Then, on December 31st, 2020, Daniel Dumile was officially reported deceased. His death was on October 31st, 2020 and as of the time of this thread, the cause of death has not been released.
MF DOOM is one of my favorite artists of all time, so as it being his 50th birthday, I thought it would be appropriate to make a thread going through his discography. If you read through the entire thread, thank you, and remember, ALL CAPS when you spell the mans name.
