The event date of filing represents when the filing condition is triggered, i.e. someone who acquired shares just exceeded 5% threshold.

That's why the Event Date is the most important to investors to know.
The 1st week of 2021 is very active:

283 13D-G filings reported.
48% of them are new or increased buys

The reason is 3 kinds of filings are triggered:
Year-End
Mond-End
The anytime filing, i.e. whenever anyone acquired 5%+ ownership or made changes to those positions.
