Having tech oligarchs exercise political control is the wrong way to address a democracy crisis. The tens of millions of radicalized people aren’t going anywhere and without changes to the underlying business models of big tech the radicalization will worsen.
The richest people in our society make their money selling tickets to the end of democracy. That’s the problem here guys. It’s a business model issue.
These tech platforms mess with our minds. And yes us. Not just the MAGA folks. Endless doomscrolling changes how we think and makes you more prone to panic, conspiracies, dehumanizing others. And yes, WE. Not just THEM.
