Well @NathanJRobinson true to form wrote a really lazy article about YIMBYism riddled with enough errors to make the segregationists at Livable California blush https://www.currentaffairs.org/2021/01/the-only-thing-worse-than-a-nimby-is-a-yimby
It's clear this is @NathanJRobinson first time looking into this stuff, so all of his arguments are so pedestrian rich Beverly Hills council members repeat shit like this. But he's going to be really embarassed in the coming weeks re: who supports social housing development.
He stumbles into a basic urban policy problem here. "Yes! Public housing! But don't destroy "historic Neighborhoods to build it!" UHHH okay. Who decides what's historic? Are there entire Neighborhoods that should avoid public housing development? Who shapes these processes?
@natjanjrobinson is so clearly not familiar with the politics here. Nonprofit housing developers are YIMBYs closest allies in Sacramento. The only projects my teams spend time advocating for is subsidized BMR housing. Apparently this is compatible to segregationists.
