A couple days ago I posted on Facebook that I thought the invasion of the Capital was wrong.

A long time friend replied that communicated that I was ok with ballot fraud.

So, I unfriended and blocked her.
She texted me to ask why and expressed her disappointment that I met a political disagreement end a long friendship.

I replied that wasn't the case.

She let political opinion motivate her to lie about me in public.

I don't have to allow slander on my social media posts.
Unfriending and even blocking are no grounds for personal offense, nor are they an indication of an ended friendship.

It may simply mean I don't want to interact with you on that platform.

You have a right to choose where you interact with people, to set boundaries.
We have no obligation to allow anyone to demand access to our social media pages, especially disrespectful people.
It's not difficult. If you don't know what someone thinks, ask a question

If you feel confident to declare what they think, you've signaled there's no reason to discuss it---YOU KNOW.

If you bypass questions to declare what I think, don't be insulted when I stop listening.
And see, here's the thing: I received and replied to the private texts.

We had a conversation (though I try to avoid text and messaging conversations on serous topics; I much prefer face-to-face in person or on video).

Sometimes wisdom means knowing where to talk.
