Years ago I had to unfriend a high school friend on FB because he kept attacking me about GMO food and vaccine conspiracy theories. He kept saying I needed to “do my research”. When I pointed out that I in fact have done a LOT of research in genetics it just made him angrier.

I think about that interaction a lot these days. I think it really mirrors a lot of the sickness running though the far-right. I honestly have no idea how to fight against that kind of willful disbelief, and it makes me sad. But I think about it a lot.
