Here are my thoughts on the @Eminem and Snoop beef, and I do recognise that I may be way off script or completely outside the box, but that’s me!
I don’t know why people keep focussing only on the comments Snoop has made over The Breakfast Club a few months back
#Eminem
#Eminem
Specifically when Snoop said that Eminem was not in his top 10 rappers and that he could live without Eminem’s entire catalog
Comments which Eminem responded to in his song #Zeus and then later in his interview in Shade45 podcast by saying the tone of #Snoop caught him off guard
For me, to put 2 and 2 together I had to go all the way to the 90s and the untold beef story between Snoop and #2Pac
Snoop and Pac were really good friends, that is until Pac signs with #Deathraw (by Snoop’s recommendation) and then Pac becoming the face of the label
Pac was also embraced by Dr Dre, who allegedly at the time was Snoop’s mentor and best friend, but Dre’s attention energy quickly focused on Pac instead of Snoop
There is a lot more to the backstory of Snoop/Pac beef, but it was all about greed and jealousy from Snoop towards the whole Deathraw crew and 2Pac
That jealousy was like fire in the studio, and Suge Knight added so much fuel to it, but that’s not our story for now
Fast forward, Pac gets shot in NY kicks up West Coast/ East Coast beef with Bad Boy, and in the midst of all the chaos, Pac gets killed and with him dies #Deathraw
Now Snoop can have all the spot light on him again and Dre can focus on his old time buddy, but no....
Out of the blue, a Caucasian weirdo/ battle rapper from Michigan shows up and recaptures Dr Dre’s full attention, diverting the energy away from Snoop, again!
I can’t get insides Snoop’s brain, but it must have been really confusing to see the one person who can help you is busy helping someone else
Snoop must have thought there were Caucasian rappers before Em, e.g. Beastie Boys, Vanilla Ice etc, they all came and went, so he thought he’ll just wait for this one to go
Little that Snoop knew, Em not only had stuck around, but became better and better, he became an Icon and some even consider him the GOAT!
Over the years, Eminem continued through soft jabs at Diddy hoping for a reaction, but only to his disappointment, only the sound of crickets
So when the opportunity finally struck with the #MGK diss, Em took that opportunity and gave the biggest knock out punch
In Eminem’s song Not Alike, he said a couple of things to MGK including: Better call Diddy Just to try to get me off
But the most shocking statement is when Em said on Killshot: the day Diddy admits that he put the hit out that got pac killed
After Killshot was released, I personally thought after all these years we are finally going to see a Diddy reaction
But no, Joe Budden, another friend turns rival of Em, said that he’s spoken with Diddy and that Diddy said ‘it’s all in hand’, what does that mean?!
A few months later, the infamous WeTransfer security breach leaked an unreleased song where Eminem takes shots at Revolt TV
Back on to the ‘The Breakfast Club’ where Snoop made his comments about Eminem, the show is Co-hosted by #CharlemagneThaGod
Charlamagne tha God has had his fair share of Eminem disses and there is clear hostility between him and Em (another story for another day)
So, The Breakfast Club, televised by Revolt. Revolt is owned by Diddy, Snoop was invited by Charlamagne to address Eminem, spooky!
So the question, is igniting the beef between the 2 HipHop icons is what Diddy meant when he said ‘it is all in hand’?!
Have Diddy & Co tricked Snoop into a beefing situation with Eminem? or has Em put them all in one basket deliberately? Only time will tell
I can’t help but wonder if Dr Dre is going to allow his team slip into a ‘divide & conquer’ situation caused by the Diddy Camp?
As far diss tracks are concerned, Snoop can never lyrically challenge Eminem, but he can definitely push Em’s buttons
A beef between those legends can be good for the culture at this stage in my view, as long is we stay away from racial slurs and it’s kept strictly to music
What are your thoughts on on the Eminem Snoop beef, and how you feel about it?
Is this a good or a bad thing for the culture.
