7 things to do to get respect and appreciation

-Thread-
1. Don't try to impress:

Be true to yourself, people who are genuine and don't give too much attention to how they act are appreciated.

If you act like someone you're not, you'll be despised and lose respect.
2. Smile:

Radiating good vibes will make people like you.

Smiling costs nothing and yet has a very high likelihood to make the person mirror your behavior.

Want people to act nice to you?

Smile.
3. Listen to what they have to say:

This is a tricky one.

Most people are not interesting.

Listen superficially, listen but don't absorb what they say.

Don't get too deep into conversations or they'll expect you to find solutions.
4. Offer help:

Obvious one. Everyone appreciates helpful people.

Help them but do it for yourself, everything should be calculated.

By offering help, you become "useful".

Just don't get used, help with what YOU WANT to help with, don't let people dictate how you'll help them.
5. Remember the names and use them when speaking to people:

If you want someone to remember you, remember their name.

Once you call people by their name, they think they're special to you

They'll hold you at a higher standard.

PS: The only person that it special to you is you
6. Tell the truth, don't hold back:

As much as it'll hurt them, people appreciate those who say what they think.

If they get offended by then so be it, let them be.

>This answers a question I was asked earlier today
7. Stick to your word, fulfill what you promise:

Nothing is more respectable than someone who respects himself.

Nothing is more respectable than living up to your promises

That being said: avoid promising shit, they'll expect stuff from you.
