I have two humanities degrees. I don't know what people think happens in academia but neither of my disciplines (history and writing) were known for their diversity. Ask BIPOC humanities grads about their experiences. The fascism is coming from inside the academy.

And again let me remind you, poor undereducated people do not have the power or access to be the architects of oppressive systems. They are often the fodder & may become enforcers. But they didn't build it. It's the lawyers and doctors and teachers and politicians.

And the people that stormed the Capitol? Largely turning out to be business owners, CEO's, doctors, nurses, marketing directors...fascism is very much a white collar crime. Stop trying to shift the blame and deal with the problem inside your communities.

And listen I know someone is going to point at BIPOC fascists. Hi, have you ever seen how their communities engage with them? Mimic that energy. We know that we have a problem in the house and we're constantly trying to address it. You could do the same.

These people are making a choice. I know we talk about the last four years in terms of cults and brainwashing, but that's not all that happened. At some point we have to talk about the fact that 70 million people looked at the hate & either embraced it or decided it didn't matter

They cared more about money than anything else. And they were willing to watch everyone else suffer as long as they were comfortable. That's not an education problem. That's a basic human decency problem.
