Censorship is the government preventing black, brown and other marginalized people from protesting/speaking up about inequalities and fighting for rights denied to them

Of course the white people purposely misrepresenting what the first amendment is and what is real censorship know that. This is just another example of white ppl trying to make themselves the victims because they’re finally facing long overdue consequences of their actions
It’s also funny cause conservatives are now forced to jump between “the government should control what private Companies should do” and now “the government needs to force these private companies to do this thing we want”
Which is even funnier considering how much they’ve been fighting against state governments who enacted rules for private comp aides to follow during a pandemic. So which is it?
Of course this also is why we need better education. Cause right now Americans have a “freedom fetish” where they think any decision made for the betterment of society that they disagree with means their freedoms are being violated
Which isn’t how any of that works. Freedom of speech doesn’t give u the right to incite violence or harm the public.

Also, context matters. BLM protesters are protesting a systemic problem that leads to the death and harm of black people BY THE GOVERNMENT
That’s different that Trump supporters storming the capitol because they believe a lie that the election was stolen

A lie that I should point out is rooted in systemic racism. They believe the election was stolen because more black and brown ppl were able to vote because the pandemic forced states to enacting voting rules that made traditional voter suppression techniques ineffective
Basically white people protest when they’re no longer allowed to infringe on the rights of others while everyone else protests to get their rights (afforded under the constitution) recognized

Their whole argument is “our way of life is being threatened” i.e. “we’re being forced to allow marginalized people to have equal rights and that makes me a victim”
And just for the record: We told you so. Marginalized people been telling you this was gonna happen. So many in the media that downplayed this shit over the last few years were in tears Weds cause they “didn’t see it coming”
